Description: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY Loads and operates vacuum coating chamber to perform thin-film coatings on optical substrates. Monitors vacuum deposition process according to process instructions. Performs routine and periodic maintenance on coating chambers. Checks coating results with desired specifications. Maintains records as required. At highest level, performs vacuum chamber troubleshooting as required. Applies knowledge of the operating principles of the vacuum coating chambers. Assists in the training of new optics coaters. LEVELING REQUIREMENTS I: Works under direct supervision to perform standard thin-film coatings on optical substrates. Minimum experience and training required. Basic reading, writing and math skills. II: Works under direct supervision to perform standard thin-film coatings on optical substrates. Minimum experience and training required: 0 to 3 years of experience in optics thin-film coating. Basic reading, writing and math skills. Senior: Works under moderate supervision to perform standard and non-standard thin-film coatings on optical substrates. Minimum experience and training required: 4 to 6 years of experience in optics thin-film coating. Basic reading, writing and advanced math skills at least a 2 year degree in a related technical field. Work experience needs to be related to job duties within Detector Processing.
